It seems like a miracle that Midnight Cove II again was extremely fortunate and was
spared the terrible devastation that hurricane Milton & Helene brought to our neighborhood.
The eye of Milton made landfall on Oct. 8, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. near Siesta Key
as a Category 3 storm with winds up to 120 mph, the forecasted storm surge of 13 ft was the biggest threat.

*****
Two hurricanes in 13 days is almost impossible to comprehend yet here we are.
Despite the enormous destruction that Hurricane Milton was expected to inflict upon Siesta Key and our own Midnight Cove II community, we once again came through this storm in pretty good
condition. While sadly, with strong winds, we lost several trees and sustained damage to one carport, no buildings were damaged save for lost shingles.
The storm surge from Milton was expected to cause immense flooding to our property, yet the surge we received was actually less than from Hurricane Helene.
Because of this, again no units sustained flood water penetration.
When Helene struck Siesta Key, the Gulf waters over ran the island at the intersection of Midnight Pass Rd. and Stickney Point. This caused major flooding to occur on many properties including
Midnight Cove II. Flood water inundated our parking lot from the front of the property to the end of the tennis courts. This unfortunately caused water to flood into our office and shop. However,
the very good news is that water did not get so high as to invade first floor units.
We were extremely fortunate that this was the case.

Our hearts go out to all the people who had to experience the devastating force of this incredibly terrible hurricanes.
We feel very sorry about all the devastation which has been caused to our neighbors and are heartbroken to see what has happened to our beautiful surrounding barrier islands.
We want to thank all first responders and all people that worked 24/7 to bring everything back to normal.
